A Day for Dance Teachers

As you know CPD is such an important part of being a dance teacher today. This one day course explores key aspects of safe and effective dance teaching practice.

Often guidelines are aimed at professional dancers and we need to adapt the recommendations to suit the dance students we are teaching. One of the topics we will be exploring is Tailoring Warming Up and Cooling Down for your specific dance student groups (children, adolescents, adults, older adults, special needs). We will also consider how to develop genre specific warm ups for a variety of dance genres.

Another area we will be looking at is how to help your dance students to flourish with person-centred and positive teaching methods. An area of dance teaching that is gaining interest worldwide.

Hypermobility and how to teach students who are hypermobile is consistently on the agenda at dance medicine and science conferences. So I am delighted that we have a guest speaker, Professor Howard Bird to talk about Hypermobility in Dance. Prof Bird is a rheumatologist and specialist in joint hypermobility and musculoskeletal injuries and rehabilitation and in relation to dance. This promises to be a terrific presentation and one you don’t want to miss.
