Looking back over 2020 highlights the challenges that many dance teachers have faced. Talking with fellow teachers during this year has confirmed how we have had to learn new skills – Zoom being something that so many have become familiar with for meetings, classes and other teaching. Who would have thought at the beginning of the year that we would be doing much of our work online via Zoom?
To encourage dance teachers to do something for their own wellbeing, I offered a weekly free Mindful Relaxation session from March to July. These sessions were well received and from feedback, teachers found them very helpful. I hope that some of what we explored during these sessions is still in use and proving helpful.
With all the changes and uncertainties relating to having studios open or teaching in person, it has been a tough year. But dance teachers have shone through with their willingness to adapt and adjust their teaching and dance content to suit online teaching, showing the abilities of teachers to make the best of the situation they find themselves in. A huge well done to dance teachers everywhere for all their efforts to continue to support their students and keep their businesses running.
A big thank you to dance teachers around the world (you know who you are) who have taken the opportunity during 2020 to add to their knowledge, skills and understanding through taking one or more of my Short Online CPD Courses for Dance Teachers. I always enjoy working with you on these courses and witnessing the enthusiasm and sheer amount of development that happens over a short three week period. I look forward to working with you in 2021.If you haven’t joined us on one of my courses then perhaps you will in 2021.
The next group of Short Online CPD Courses for Dance Teachers are available to book now.
Here’s wishing you and yours very good health and happiness in 2021.
Warmest wishes, Sho
